We at TrackSo have come across 50+ solar plants where synchronizing PV with multiple DGs (Diesel generators), that run on separate circuits/bus bars but are combined when the grid is available, was a big challenge.

Hence we came up with an innovative technology: Group-wise DG Sync!

What is Group-wise DG Sync? Why is it needed?

Group-wise DG sync is a controlling logic that helps in the synchronization of solar inverters & multiple DGs that are connected in a fashion where each DG can be on a separate bus bar (let’s call each of it a group) and it caters to the load in combination with a cluster of inverters.

Most companies will offer multiple controllers to cater to this use case leading to INCREASED, COMPLEXITY, and COSTS. We simplify this with our unified approach, which enables seamless monitoring and control with a SINGLE controller even in the cases of different termination points or bus couplers in between!

How does it work?

Let’s illustrate with an existing use case:

Imagine a facility with 10 inverters- 5 on grid incomer A & 5 on grid incomer B, 3 DGs & bus couplers.

A group can be assigned to each inverter to determine which group or groups it belongs to based on a simple logic following binary notations and priorities have to be set for each DG output meter. Once this customizable configuration is coded into the TrackSo controller, the device is ready for action.

Based on the output power readings & priority of the DG energy meters TrackSo controller dynamically controls inverters of group A & group B, ensuring optimal operation based on load requirement & site operational logic.

Let’s take another example:-

Imagine a factory with a main grid incomer, 2 DGs, and 4 inverters. Let’s say that during normal operations, all 4 inverters are connected to the grid. An energy meter in group 1 there would be used to control all 4 inverters to ensure zero feed into the grid. Now during a power cut, the factory is split into two separate grids – inverters 1 & 2 are powered by genset 1. Inverters 3 & 4 are powered by genset 2. The Wattmon can now ensure that both of these groups are independent.

This latest power control package has added support for even more complex logic involving bus couplers which dynamically join groups, making a very it a super versatile solution.

Other benefits:-

  •  Compatible with 100+ inverter brands.
  •  Cost-effective & robust.
  •  Monitoring and controlling from a single device for multiple DGs and incomers.
