How to setup TrackSo Data Logger for publishing data over MQTT

The combination of IoT and MQTT provides numerous benefits, including scalability, low bandwidth and power consumption, reliability, real-time communication, flexibility, reduced network load, and enhanced security. These advantages make IoT systems more efficient, resilient, and capable of supporting a wide range of applications in various industries. Lets see how to setup TrackSo Data Logger for publishing data over MQTT:

 

Applicable Model No.s: TrackSo WT400 M, WT410 M, WT420 M

Step 1 :  Request windows utility software , Client Id and password for over email from TrackSo Support

Step 2 : Connect data logger with laptop using USB-to-RS232 or USB C cable as per the logger model
Note: Install driver for the USB-to-RS232 cable you are using.

Step 3 : Unzip utility in any any Windows 7/8/10/11 system and run the utility

Step 4 : Login to the utility with the client id and password provided

Step 5 : Open the TrackSo Utility as below and

a) Check the COM port displayed in Utility. (If COM port is not displayed then either the USB to RS232 cable is not connected or Drivers are not installed
b) If the above steps are completed then Click on Connect.

Connect OK will be displayed once the connection is successful

Step 6 : Click ok Upload Config from Device to Load Current Config.
Note: If by mistake customer clicks on the button nearby whole device will get reset.

Step 7 : In Connect Protocol Select MQTT and enter the Server IP/URL with port of the MQTT server

Step 8 : Navigate to MQTT settings tab and configure the relevant settings

Broker Settings

  • Broker Ip/Domain and Port: will get auto populated with the same details submitted in step 7
  • Client ID: enter any unique client id for unique identification on your platform (Example: IMEI no. or any other string upto 23 character strings max)
  • Auth enable: If there is any authentication for connecting to MQTT server select Auth Enable and enter Username & Password of the mqtt broker
  • Qos Level: set Quality of Service (QoS) level  as per mqtt broker

Topics

  • Publish Event: Enter any topic on which you wish to recieve the data over MQTT
  • Subscribe Cmd: enter topic which you want logger to subscribe for recieving logger status commands
  • Publish Cmd Reply: Enter topic on which logger can send reply to status commands

Step 9 : Download settings to data logger
