How to monitor Solar Inverters not having Communication Port
For monitoring solar inverters without a communication port or facility, you can use the following equipment with Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP/IP output and monitor the inverter indirectly.
- AC Energy meter setup with Modbus RTU RS485 communication output to measure AC Output of Inverter
- 1st DC Energy meter with Modbus RTU RS485 communication output to measure DC input of Inverter
3. 2nd DC Energy meter with Modbus RTU RS485 communication output to measure Battery Voltage & Current - (optional) String Monitoring Boxes with Modbus RTU RS485 communication output to monitor Strings
- (optional) Bi-directional energy meter with Modbus RTU RS485 on Grid Input to monitor consumption and export. Applicable for on-Grid setup
The above equipment will provide you with the most commonly required parameters like input/output voltage, current & energy to know the status of the system. In the overall setup, you will only skip few important inverter parameters such as operating state and fault codes.
Example Setup:
- 1 DC energy meter to measure solar inverter DC input
- 1 AC energy meter to measure solar inverter AC Output
- 1 TrackSo Monitoring system to monitoring above meters
