How to ensure if Zero export is working properly?

It has been observed that during installations, installer emphasises on the installation of the device and leave the site when it is done. One important aspect that is majorly missed is to verify the working of the Power Control(ZED). As a result, the data is subjected to wrong values, resulting in generation loss. To rectify the same, installer has to again visit the site, which creates an undending cycle if not catered correctly. In this article we have listed methods through which installer can appropriately verify the installation and working of Zero Export Device.

Prerequisites to the activity:

Before carrying out the method installer should make sure he is comfortable in peforming all the points mentioned in the prerequistes. If in any mentioned below points the installer is not comfortable, we insists to perform the prerequistes before moving further. 

  1. Installer have read the ZED/Wattmon manual and documentation thoroughly.
  2. Installer should know how to access the ZED device locally or remotely.
  3. Installer should be able to vary the load as mentioned in the document below.
  4. Installer has installed the Meter and CT’s perfectly without any error.

User should access the logger be it locally or remotely and open the home page of ZED (Wattmon device). (If user is not able to perform the follwoing step, we insist to read the wattmon manual before moving further)

 Now the vary the load to such a point wherein the value is less than “MIN” value (as set during the configuration of the ZED). To check the Min value set in the logger, user should go to Settings -> Control Panel ->Power Control -> Go to Power Meters section and check

 As the load is being varied, observe the changes made in the Active Output Power rating of the inverter. Active Power can be seen in the home screen of the device, the value in (blue) just below the inverter icon.

ZED working in Perfect Condition:

If ZED is working fine inverter Output power throttles down to ‘Zero’ or to its lowest depending on the grid condition. 

ZED not Working Properly:

If the ZED device is not working correctly no changes in Inverter Output Power is observed.

By following the above mentioned method one can can ensure that the installed Power Control (ZED) is working perfectly.
